Hope you’re keeping well and staying safe through these difficult days of increased restrictions. It’s not easy to hear that the Covid infection rate is particularly high in Ballymun. KEEP HOPE ALIVE. It’s encouraging to hear that we can bring the infection rate down again if we all work together and follow public health guidelines. It’s a time for solidarity when we can work together and make a real difference. We owe it to each other and to all who are working so hard in frontline services to do the right thing and keep doing our very best.
The three Churches of St. Pappin’s Parish remain closed for public Masses as Dublin is currently under level 3 restrictions. All Masses will be streamed live at the normal scheduled times. You can join us on our website at www.stpappinsparish.com/webcam
The Churches will be open for private prayer Monday to Friday at the following times:
Holy Spirit: 10.30 - 12.30
St. Joseph’s: 9.45 – 11.00
Virgin Mary: 10.30 -12.30
Unfortunately, the level 3 restrictions came just as we were about to celebrate our First Communion Ceremonies. The children were once again very disappointed that we had to cancel the celebration of this special sacrament. All of us in the parish and in the schools shared their disappointment but we were greatly encouraged to see the children’s resilience and understanding.
It was deeply worrying, however, to hear that some children were brought to another parish to receive their First Communion in a manner that was not appropriate to the dignity and respect of the sacrament. Archbishop Diarmuid Martin has asked all parishes in the Dublin Diocese to ensure that First Communions are celebrated within the current public health guidelines and most importantly in a manner that is fitting for the sacredness of this sacrament. We look forward to celebrating the First Communion ceremonies with the boys and girls who have not yet received their First Communion. We will confirm dates as soon as the level 3 restrictions are lifted.
Thanks again for your patience and understanding. Let’s remain together in a solidarity of prayer and hope. God is with us every step of this challenging journey. Take good care, go safely and gently.
