St. Pappin's Parish Goes Solar

St. Pappin's Parish

Updated: 1 day ago

Parishioners may have noticed solar panels being fitted to the Pastoral Centre and St. Joseph’s church in recent weeks. This is part of our plan to be more energy efficient and eco-friendly for the future. All three churches will be fitted with solar panels to provide electricity for use and also to sell back to the grid to reduce the costs for the future. At present the Pastoral Centre is up and running, it is hoped St Joseph’s will be connected next and then Virgin Mary and lastly Holy Spirit when the roof is finished.

The roof project for Holy Spirit is in process for the new canopy roof to be fitted.

It is hoped that we will look at fundraising in the New year to help towards the cost of all the work being done

St. Pappin's Pastoral Centre in Ballymun, Dublin 11, has taken a significant step towards sustainability by choosing solar energy!

These two systems at St. Joseph's Church and St. Pappin's Pastoral Centre will generate over 20,000 kWh of electricity annually, saving an impressive 6.9 tonnes of CO2 each year.

Financial Impact:

The systems are projected to pay for themselves within 2.5 years and have an expected lifetime of 30 years—delivering decades of savings and environmental benefits.

What’s Next?

We’re excited to kick off the installation at Virgin Mary Church next month, with plans to install a fantastic system at Holy Spirit Church before summer.

Thank you to Sunvolt Solar for partnering with us to make a greener future possible!
