Don’t Give Up
Don’t give up. God is always near. Jesus tells his disciples to stay awake and to be prepared to welcome him when he comes again. He is not trying to frighten them but wants to encourage them not to miss out on what is before their eyes. As we begin our Advent journey the Gospel encourages us to remember God’s promise that He is near. We are invited to be people of hope who never give up and trust that God who made his home with us, continues to be with us and will come again to make all things new.
We are longing for hope as we continue to face the challenges of the Covid 19 Pandemic. As we prepare to celebrate the birth of Christ we wait patiently for every sign of hope. When we are alert and attentive we can see so much cause for hope in the goodness and loving service in our hospitals, nursing homes and in our community. We are experiencing a shared vulnerability that moves us to a solidarity of prayer and hope.
Advent calls us to nurture that gift of hope within ourselves and in our community. Together we trust that God shares in our vulnerability. As we prepare to celebrate Christmas we trust that God is near and desires to bring us the hope we so deeply long for. We remember that we are called to bring hope to one another in acts of kindness and compassion.
Wait for the Lord
Whose day is near
Keep watch
Take heart
