Hope you’re holding up ok through these very challenging times. It has been a very tough start to the New Year for everyone. Our hearts go out to all those who are sick in hospital and at home and to all who feel anxious and isolated. Our thoughts and prayers are with frontline staff in healthcare and emergency services and with the wonderful people keeping essential services going for us.
We celebrated the Feast of the Epiphany on Wednesday recognising with joy that our new born Saviour is the Light of the world for all people. Jesus is our light at this time when the world is weary and searching for hope.
This weekend we celebrate the Baptism of the Lord and reflect on the beginning of the public ministry of Jesus. His mission to proclaim the Kingdom of God unfolds a reality of healing, forgiveness, compassion, mercy, justice and peace. Jesus, our Way, our Truth and our Life shows us a way of living and loving that enables us to freely experience life in all its fullness.
Jesus is strengthened by the Holy Spirit and reassured by his Father that he is the Beloved. Our own Baptism brings us the gift of the Holy Spirit and the promise that nothing will ever separate us from God’s love. WE ARE GOD’S BELOVED. The Lord is with us not as a stranger but as our brother leading us gently into a communion of life with our God and with one another.
WE ARE NOT ALONE. God’s Spirit is with us to strengthen us in hope. The Lord is with us every step of our journey. We are wrapped in God’s perfect love. As sisters and brothers of the one Lord, sharing the one Baptism, we keep hope alive and look out for each other with loving kindness.
Masses this weekend will be streamed live at the usual times from our three Churches. Mass will be streamed from Holy Spirit Church every morning from Monday to Saturday at 10.00a.m. Please join us online as we support each other in prayer and hope.
We remember Sean Colclough and Marie Smith who died recently. May they rest in the peace of God’s love. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families and with all who are grieving at this time.
There is one Lord
One Faith, One Baptism
There is one Lord
