On the First Sunday of Lent, February 22nd, three members of our parish community took part in the Rite of Election at St Mary’s Pro-Cathedral at 3pm.
Celebrated each year in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Dublin, the Rite of Election marks an important step in the journey of faith, as those preparing to receive the Sacraments of Initiation at Easter are formally called by name and affirmed by the Church.
This year marked the largest number to date, with 129 Catechumens and Candidates presenting for the Rite. They gathered with their sponsors, catechists and parish teams for this significant moment. The atmosphere was joyful and prayerful, with the Knockmitten Choir providing beautiful musical accompaniment.
We extend our sincere thanks to Aideen McBride for preparing the candidates from St. Pappin’s Parish and for her dedication and support throughout their journey
We keep our three parishioners, and all those preparing for Easter, in our prayers throughout this Lenten season.
